M78

This small diffuse nebula in Orion is often forgotten because of its neighbor, M42, farther south.  This nebula is part of Orion B, a vast gas and dust cloud that encompasses the lower half of Orion.  The nebula is about 1,600 light years distant and about 4 light years across.  The nebula in the lower left of the frame is NGC2071 and is actually part of the same cloud as M78.

This one surprised me during post processing.  There is much more nebulosity here than I expected and I need to go back and shoot it again for a longer total exposure.
